Chevy Cruze Sonic P0299 Turbo Underboost Code Explained

I made a quick video to explain the P0299 underboost code that you’ll find on various turbo engines. While there are some application-specific explanations, the principles will hopefully help you diagnose whatever issue you have with your specific engine. Note, not discussed in this video is the possibility of a failed MAP Sensor. That could potentially trigger an underboost code, but isn’t as common as the issues I described.

Chevy Malibu Air Conditioning Problems

From time to time an easy fix starts with a basic flashlight visual of the ac wiring. Try not to reinvent the wheel with the deep testing right away.

If you have ruled out that the ac system is NOT low of refrigerant or has any freon leaks , then it is time to visually check all the connectors and wiring throughout the system.

In this case of warmer air from ac vents, we quickly identified that the ac compressor was not receiving voltage. You can easily go right to the area of the relays and want to ensure that the AC relay is clicking. An easy sway of a known good relay (headlight in this case), my remedy the problem quick like. If you have swapped a known good relay, and it resolves the symptom….you are in business easy-peasy. (just make certain you do not swap a relay that is pertinent to the start and drive ability of vehicle..i.e fuel pump etc.)

Our AC relay here with Malibu was good to go. We certainly had other voltage concerns. Now a voltmeter and flow chart is helpful for sure, however….go right to the engine bay and do a visual of connectors and wiring to the ac circuit.

Look at specifically the area of the oil filter adapter ,as we had in this case a separated wire to the ac compressor from elsewhere oil leak repair. This repair did not take lone, and was a total win to the client, as it was an inexpensive fix. We hope the same for you guys !!
