[Fix] Check Fuel Cap Warning Light

Welcome to another episode of Diycarmodz. I’m Jeff and in this video I will show you the procedure on how to fix the check fuel cap warning light on your dash.

Fuel Cap Warning Message System Troubleshooting

1.Check the fuel fill cap (the cap must say TIGHTEN TO CLICK). It should turn 1/4 turn after it’s tight, then it clicks.

2. Check the fuel fill cap seal and the fuel fill pipe mating surface. Verify that the fuel fill cap tether cord is not caught under the cap.

3. EVAP canister purge line visual check 1 (between EVAP canister purge valve and the intake manifold):
– Remove the BOTTOM purge hose between the EVAP canister purge valve and the throttle body.

Clean the hose with compressed air, and check the foreign objects in the hose.

4. EVAP canister purge line visual check 2 (between EVAP canister purge valve and the EVAP canister):

– Disconnect the purge hose from the EVAP canister.
– Disconnect the TOP purge hose from the EVAP canister purge valve in the engine compartment.

Clean the hose with compressed air, and check the foreign objects in the hose.
